South Shore Pipes and Drums Association Completes its First Year!

Dear Family and Friends,

This has been a very exciting school year for the South Shore Pipes and Drums Association, and it came to a close with our very first Awards Ceremony on May 09, 2019.

We finish the year with 3 beginner chanter students, 12 bagpipers and 5 drummers (and 5 more beginner chanter students already preregistered for lessons in the fall). There has been overflowing improvement in every member with not only performance and technique, but also in confidence and leadership. It is with great pride to see this dream transform into reality in only one short year.

Out of our 12 bagpipers, two started from scratch and are now transitioning to the bagpipes with such grand determination, poise, and encouragement, it is helplessly creating excitement for what is to come.

A special thank you to Angela McKinnon and dancers of McKinnon Dance for their uplifting encouragement, which resulted in my becoming the only registered bagpiper in Nova Scotia to play for Highland Dancing competitions. This has brought tremendous strength towards the role as Pipe Major and will always be in memory.

We thank everyone for their heartfelt donations of equipment, instruments, uniforms, and etc. - especially from Dartmouth and District Pipe and Drums Association , The College of Piping PEIPhilae Shriners CanadaChester Municipality, and past members of the Bridgewater Legion Pipe Band.

Special thank you to the following: Our South Shore Pipes and Drums Executives and Volunteers (, RCMP 'H' Div. Special Registration Offer

This April, we began a "Friendship Fifty Project", where you and one friend/family member register and you both receive a combined total of $50 off of your registration. We have decided to extend this offer until June 30, 2019

It has to be mentioned

The most beautiful part of the entire Project is how much is learned from students and from mentors lending such a helpful hand.

Very excited to announce the study of Piobaireached with support from James MacHattie, Principal at the College of Piping and Performing Arts in PEI.. Both he and I just recently performed together at a ScotDance Highland Dancing Competition and I received such encouraging words. This shows to say--we ourselves are our worst critics. So don't ever give up on your craft!

Remember, you are only as good as you practice. That said, I am off to do a bit of practice myself! Be sure to check out our Events Page as we will be performing throughout South Shore this summer!

Thank you for Supporting the Magic!
